Science: Chemistry Term 2 Reflection

Science Term 2 Reflection

My goals for the term were to identify solids, liquids and gases have different observable properties and behave in different ways. My second was to with guidance, pose questions to clarify practical problems or inform a scientific investigation and predict what the findings of an investigation might be. My third goal was to compare data with predictions and use as evidence in developing explanations. My fourth goal was to use strategies to help me and understand scientific texts that use tier 3 scientific language. We learnt all about the 3 states of matter and chemical and physical changes, we also touched on the 4th and 5th states of matter in our prepared speeches. I achieved all my goals throughout the term so I think I really tried hard and I’m very proud of myself. I achieved my goals through my prepared speech and my own research at home. I could improve on anything that I have not learned yet in chemistry and like the 3 states of matter I could find something else like the ways the states of matter change. The way we do science is using the PROE system, Predict, Reason, Observe, and Explain. The way I work has changed a little bit but not too much I want to try and find new ways like the PROE system to set out my work but still keep the GANAG system.

. Rules for science apply no matter what. The rules for science are to:

  • Never eat or drink in the lab.
  • Follow all oral and written instructions from my teacher. This includes not touching materials until I have read and/or listened to the instructions.
  • Do not use any lab equipment unless told to by me teacher.
  • Only carry one piece of glassware at a time.
  • Never run, play, or yell in the science lab.
  • Always wear protective tools (goggles, aprons, gloves, etc.) to protect my eyes, face, hands and clothes.
  • When it is time to clean up, leave my lab station cleaner than when I arrived in class.
  • Notify my teacher immediately if there is an emergency.

This term was my favourite term because we did science. Science is my favourite subject and I learnt a lot during this term and I’m look forward to next term.

BTN Report: Violent Toys

This BTN Report was about people complaining that LEGO is too violent for kids to see.

LEGO has been around since 1949, it started in a town called Billund, Denmark. It was thirty years until they brought in the first LEGO weapons. In my opinion it’s outrageous to say that LEGO is too violent, if it’s too violent for your kids read the age limit. If it’s too violent why don’t they take it out of the kids section instead of putting with all the other kids’ things? Why do parents and other people think it’s violent? Because it doesn’t even show the weapons being used at all. Something I understand now is that LEGO isn’t meant to show violence it’s meant to show activities like construction and fanta

A School Day 100WC Week#22

In the morning I woke up but my breakfast had already been eaten they were fruit loops. I could tell my brother ate them because of the yellow around his mouth. On my way to school I saw an airplane it looked like it almost hit the school because there is an airport near my school. I missed out on the first period because of my music lesson, I play violin. At recess I saw my crush Rachel she almost swept me off my feet. In period three we had Art I made a sculpture of Rachel but I said it was my mum.

Big Mac Prices Graph

This is a graph made on excel about Big Mac Prices in different countries.

BIg Mac

The features of bar graphs are the vertical and horizontal axes (X and Y). The vertical axis shows the prices of the Big macs in both the US and the countries in the graph. The horizontal axis shows the categories. The light blue shows the prices in those countries and the purple shows the prices in the US.

BTN Report Asthma

This BTN report was about people who suffer from asthma.

2 million Australians suffer from asthma and on average 1 person dies from asthma everyday. Different things can cause people to have these things called asthma attacks some of the things are pollen, dust, chemicals, perfume and pet hair. Lots of people suffer from asthma there’s most likely a person in your school who suffers from it, you can get asthma at any age, people use different things to help them with asthma like puffers, which sprays medicine to open up the windpipes. Why isn’t there a permanent cure to asthma yet like a thing that keeps open the windpipes all the time? How did people with asthma in the olden days survive without puffers of some sort? Something I understand now is that people suffer from asthma all around us and will probably stay that way forever unless they figure out a cure.

The Whistler

This week I’m trying to add more description to my writing.

On a gloomy, depressing, Thursday night a unknown figure stood still staring at a singular house in the middle of a small street. The lights were on as he sneakily walked to the door with a bat in his hand and a mask in the other. He rang the doorbell a small child answered, a whistle blew and everyone disappeared except for the small child who ran upstairs to his bedroom to hide. “No where to hide boy!” He said in a sinister voice. The man walked in only to be hit in the face with a door, he fell unconscious.

The Annoying Texan 100WC Week#20

This week I’m trying to add more dialog in my narratives.

“G’day sir.” The man said as he sat down. “How are you on this fine, fine day?”

“Fine thanks, now if you would excuse me I’m reading my book!” The other man said with an attitude.

“Alrighty then, I leave you be but you wouldn’t say that to your mother would you now.”

“Excuse me! Don’t you EVER talk about my mother you heathen!”

“Alright, alright you believer.” He snickered

“Thank you.” He said sarcastically. The Texan got up  and walked away to his next victim to annoy.

“Hey how’s it going?” As he chuckled.

BTN Report: Levels Of Government

This BTN Report was about the three levels of government and how they help.

There are three levels of government the federal, state and local they all have different rights and responsibilities but if they ever get into an argument federal overrules state and state overrules local. Federal government is in charge of defending the nation, and deals with trade and other countries. It also keeps a close eye on managing Australian money, taxes, communications and the environment. The state’s responsibilities are health, education, mining and agriculture. They also watch over most of the police force and the courts, roads, trains and public transport. And the final, the local they way sound the work but they are the one of the most helpful. They maintain local roads, deal with garbage and pets. And they’re in charge of local buildings and permits. Why aren’t there more types of government? If there were more types of government what would their responsibilities be? Something I understand now is that each level of government is just as important as the others because without local our lives at home wouldn’t be fun or good just like if we didn’t have local we wouldn’t be able to go to school and without federal we wouldn’t be safe and have money.
